Evelyn Nahamie Toews, a long time resident of Clovis, California, died of natural causes on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Carrington of Shafter. She was born in 1927 in Bessie Oklahoma to Jacob and Susanna Penner. She graduated from Corn Bible Academy in Corn, Oklahoma. After moving to California in the 1940's Evelyn had various jobs; Pacific Bell Telephone Company, Beverly Manor Assisted Living and the Del Monte Fruit Company in Kingsburg, CA. She considered these jobs to be just a way to make a little "much needed money." Her "real job" was caring for her husband Menno and their two sons. Evelyn is survived by son Randy and wife Cheryl, grandson Zachary and wife Ashley, great granddaughters, Madison and Mackenzie,of Shafter, CA, granddaughter Vanessa and Daniel Vierra of Bakersield, CA, son Kevin and daughters Rachel and Amanda Toews of Fresno, CA. A graveside service will be held Friday, December 21 at 1pm at Clovis District Cemetery.
