A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 29, 9 am, at Union Cemetery for Evelyn Aguirre Etcheverry, 63, of Bakersfield, who passed away March 24. Visitation will be held at Hopson-Anspach Mortuary on Wednesday, March 28 from 2-8pm with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6pm. Evelyn was born September 8, 1943 in Bakersfield to Antonio and Juanita Aguirre. She taught special education for 31 years and still corresponded with many of her students. On August 20, 1992 she married Jean Etcheverry in Las Vegas, and they were married until his death in 2005. She loved spending time with her grandkids, as well as talking on the phone to friends and family. Evelyn is survived by her son, Charles Martinez and wife, Stephanie; daughter Ramona Hormann and husband, Keith; sisters Fina Thompson and Lola Gonzalez; grandchildren, Samantha and Jennifer Hormann, Christopher Hormann, Nicole Martinez, Antonio Martinez, Carly Martinez, Charlie Martinez, Ashley Harris, Cory Capps, Cody Capps, Kyle Capps; great-grandchild, Lexus Brianna Capps; nieces and nephews, Kathy and Gregg Mendez, Kristy and Tim Jandel, Kari Gonzalez, Mark Thompson. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jean "Tipia" Etcheverry.
