Etta Dean Pressley was born in Missouri to George and Lillie Woods on January 14, 1919. She married Marvin Pressley on July 16, 1937, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. The couple moved to San Diego in 1937, and they both were employed in the airline industry; in 1963, they moved to Lake Tahoe where they resided until they retired in 1981, where upon they moved to Shafter. Etta was primarily a homemaker but she did help supplement the family income by working seasonally in the local Shafter potato sheds. Etta was the sixth of eight children; she was proud to have been a Dust-bowl survivor. Etta enjoyed her life as a grandmother and truly enjoyed her great grandkids. Etta was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lillie; her husband, Marvin; daughters, Goldie Alice Sharp and Patsy Rae Corley; and 7 siblings. Etta is survived by her son, Tommy Pressley of San Diego; grandchildren, Todd and Jen Velasco and their children, Jacob and Zachary of Portland, Oregon; Amy and Joe Van Arkel and their children, Ashley, Tabitha and Jacy of Raleigh, North Carolina; Patrick and Sara Pressley and their children, Savannah(Tehachapi) Julieann, and Jessika of Littleton, Colorado; Sky and Shane Meyers and their children, Austin, Justin, Evan and Donovan of Bakersfield; J. R. and Monica Pressley and their soon to be born twins; along with many nieces and nephews.
