Emma "Ethel" Williams Ethel Williams was born September 4, 1916, in Bokchito, Oklahoma, to parents Frank and Emma Wright. Ethel passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 5, 2011. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, seven of eight siblings, husband Floyd Williams and daughter Barbara Nessmith. She is survived by her daughter Wanda Chivington of Bokchito, OK; son Arvil Williams and wife Lila of Mena, AR; and daughter Joyce Harris and husband Delmer of Dixon, CA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and numerous extended family. Mary Milne of Bakersfield is her surviving sister. Ethel lived more than fifty years in the San Joaquin Valley of CA most of which were in the Lamont/Arvin area. She returned to the Bokchito area in the early 1990's. Ethel labored in the preparation, maintenance, harvest and packaging of crops for many years. She wasn't a stranger to hard work and gave 100% in all she did. Through the years she had church membership in several Southern Baptist churches in Lamont, Arvin, and Bokchito. She looked forward to going to church; it was the highlight of her week. She enjoyed Bible reading, gospel and bluegrass music, social gatherings and cooking for others. A special thanks is extended to her daughter Wanda Chivington and grandson Daniel Nessmith for their devoted care in her waning years. A viewing will be available at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary in Bakersfield on Thursday, November 10, 2011, from 2pm to 8pm. A graveside service will be held at the Arvin Public Cemetery Friday, November 11, 2011, at 2pm.
