IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Schultz
January 21, 1918 – June 3, 2007
Ethel Schultz was born January 21, 1918 in Marion County, Kansas to Henry & Marie (Pankratz) Bergman. Ethel accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 13 years old and was baptized in the Cold Springs River in Texas. The family moved to Shafter in 1934 and 3 years later she married Ernest Schultz on September 5, 1937. Ethel was an excellent homemaker serving her family with pride and humility. She loved family and gatherings, preparing meals for them to enjoy. The traditional German Mennonite food including zwieback, verenika and German sausage ranked among the family favorites. Ethel also canned the summer's bounty producing dill pickles and many varieties of jelly. Another favorite pastime was tending her garden where beautiful Double Delight roses bloomed under her care. Ethel was a faithful member of the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church for over 70 years and a prayer warrior. She prayed daily for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, naming each one by name as she prayed for them. Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Ernest who passed away in 1994; 3 brothers, Gideon, Robert and Oscar and by 1 granddaughter. She is survived by her sons, Leroy Schultz & wife Cathy of Sun City West, Arizona, Doug Schultz & wife Linda of Cedarville and David Schultz of Bakersfield; daughters, Gloria Stinnett of Shafter and Teresa Soranno & husband John of Bakersfield; brothers, Lee Bergman & wife Norma and Lowell Bergman & wife Betty, all of Shafter; sister, Margie Bobst of Bakersfield; sisters-in-law, Ella Bergman of Shafter and Ruby Schultz of Fresno; brother-in-law, Marvin Penner of Fresno; 11grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and many other loving family members. A graveside service was held Saturday, June 9th at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park for Ethel Schultz, age 89, of Shafter who passed away June 3 in Bakersfield. A visitation was held Friday, June 8th from 2pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
