Esther Flores was born December 11, 1922 to Francisco and Santos (Morales) Arviso in El Centro, California. She married Macedonio Flores in 1949 and they moved to Bakersfield shortly after that. Esther served her family as a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of the roses and other plants in her garden. She loved birds and had parakeets and cockatoos as pets. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, 3 sisters, her husband Macedonio; and 2 sons, Miguel and Gustavo. Esther is survived by her sons, Juan Heredia of Bakersfield, Carlos Heredia of San Bernardino, Hector Flores of Bakersfield and Daniel Flores of San Bernardino and their spouses; daughters, Lydia Cervantes and Rosa Maria Flores, both of Bakersfield; brother Jose Arviso of Bakersfield; sister, Sara Lopez of San Bernardino; 25 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren. Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, February 11 at 6:30pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon St. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, February 12, at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 11 from 2pm – 8pm at Hopson-Anspach.
