Esther Montes Boozer was born in Bakersfield, California to Jose and Ruth Montes. She was the only girl out of thirteen children. Her parents were so excited to finally have a girl! She was born on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1934 and her parents named her Esther but her father called her "Reina" his Queen.

Esther went to Longfellow Elementary and went on to graduate from Garces High School. She had many jobs in her lifetime from being a waitress at Mexicali Restaurant to retiring from Safeway/Vons in Arvin after 25 years where she met lifetime friends and enjoyed talking to her many customers. Everyone in Arvin knew who our mother was because she never met a stranger and brought a smile to everyone's face.

Esther was blessed to have five sons and one daughter: Paul Gamez, Joey Gamez, Michael Gamez, Carlos Boozer, John Boozer, and Reina Krizo. She had 18 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She is predeceased in death by her parents and her twelve brothers. She is the last of her family members.

Esther was such a faithful and God fearing women. She devoted her whole life to serving the lord. She taught Catechism at St. Thomas in Arvin and St. Augustine in Lamont. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, choir, and active in the Right to Life Movement. She would also visit the shut-ins and take them communion. Mom had a personal relationship with the Lord and was ready to go home to be with him and her family. Mom always said "Don't cry for me at my funeral but rejoice as I am with the Lord!" She will be missed dearly.

Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you. John 16:22
