Obituary

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed April 29th 2012 in Bakersfield, CA due to complications of congestive heart failure. Butch was born July 8th, 1944 in Raymondville, TX. Butch attended school in Shafter, CA, graduating from Shafter High School in 1962. He entered the US air force and served his country for 20 years until he retired in 1984. He spent the remaining years of his career in law enforcement, retiring from the Kern County Sheriff's Department in 2005. Butch enjoyed collecting guns and was an excellent marksman. He loved to travel anywhere especially if he could get there on a cruise ship. Butch was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Shafter since early childhood and spent the latter years of his life attending the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church. Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Desmond and Allein Carroll and his wife's parents Otto and Nomie Searcy. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Lorah Carroll, 3 daughters; Doree Bruno, husband Joe, Andrea Mortimore, husband Alex, Janis Penner, husband Stephen; 4 grandchildren, Cara, Daniel, Kayla, and Jaden; sisters Nadyne Carroll and Virgie McNew; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd at Peter's Funeral Home in Shafter, CA. from 4-8PM. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 3rd 11AM at Shafter Cemetery
