Obituary

Esmeralda S. Lopez, age 93 of Shafter, passed away February 21, 2010. She was born in Wallacy Co., Texas to Martha (Garcia) and Jose Salinas, one of 3siblings. She and her very handsome, late husband, Luciano Lopez married Raymondsville, Texas, 1934. Esmeralda was a protective mother, grandmother and great grandmother, at one point in time or another she helped care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching out for them when it was time for them to come home from school; attended ¬all of their games, she was a wonderful fan, cheering proudly and encouragingly. Her family remembers her as always having something delicious to eat on the stove with homemade tortillas on the grill even at age 91. Her home was also filled with music, all kinds of Mexican music, rancheras, baltzes, and norteno tunes were heard throughout her home. She loved going to the local Casinos and took the opportunity to live with her son in Las Vegas a few months. Her family will miss her loving touch, her charm and her gusto for life. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Luciano (1985); son Luis Lopez (2003), Reynaldo Lopez (2000), Luciano Lopez Jr. (2010); both sibling, Reynaldo and Evangelina Salinas; grandchildren Rene and Luciano Lopez III and is survived by her daughter Evangelina Munoz; 27 grandchildren, 57 great grandchildren and 49 great-great grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection was held at St.Therese's Catholic Church - 10 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2010 at. Peters Funeral Home hosted a Celebration of Life for Esmeralda S. Lopez, visitation from 2 – 4pm in their Shafter Chapel, with recitation of the Rosary at 6pm.
