Obituary

Emzy Wayne Harris was born May 11, 1939 in Hartman, Arkansas to Pearl (Morrow) and John Harris. The family moved to California and Emzy lived in Buttonwilllow, Shafter, Taft, Pixley and the last eight years in Wasco. Emzy married Debra Matthews February 14, 2001 in Athens, Texas. Emzy enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also a little ornery, he loved to aggravate everybody and get them going. Emzy loved picking flowers and writing love poems to set on the table with the morning coffee for his love, Debra. Emzy was preceded in death by his son, Scotty Harris and brother, H.C. Harris; and parents, John and Pearl Harris. Emzy is survived by his wife of 11 years, Debra Harris; children, Terry Matthews, David Ward, Emzy Dewayne Harris, Eva Harris Mosier, Shorty Harris and Rick Harris; siblings, Alice Terry, Loudean Sneathens, Billy Malone and David Harris; and parents-in-law, Richard & Fannie Matthews. He loved his special nephew, Tim Malone who was always there when he needed him; a special nephew, Sylvis Riddle who helped to raise money; a special niece he loved like a daughter, Billie Beard; a special brother-in-law, Marty Matthews and Richie Matthews and sister-in-law, Linda Matthews who was so special in his heart; sisters-in-law, Lisa Matthews, Melody Pirkle, Sheila Rasha, Brenda Rodriquez and Claudette Matthews. Thanks to all the family who donated money and time and Paul Bailey who donated the cemetery plot, nephew Sylvis Riddle and Teen Challenge for raising money with a car wash; friends Bill and Laverne Wise for their donations and all my brothers and sisters for donations; and special brother-in-law, George Pirkle and nephew, Scotty Music for their donation and friend, Misty Rouell. A graveside service will be held Thursday, September 27 at 12noon at Shafter Memorial Park for Emzy Wayne Harris, age 73, of Wasco who passed away September 19, 2012 in Delano. Pastor Bill Lewis of Griffith Avenue Baptist Church will officiate and interment will follow. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 27 from 9am to 11:30am at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
