IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emma Eva
Tillman
January 6, 1919 – January 27, 2011
Emma Eva Isaac Tillman was born January 6, 1919 to Peter S. and Nettie (Baerg) Isaac at their home outside Shafter, California. She passed away on January 27, 2011 in her longtime home on Orange Street, with her family in attendance. Emma married Bill Tillman of Wasco, California on March 12, 1941 and they were married for forty eight years before Bill's death in 1989. Their son Eugene "Butch" Tillman predeceased them in 1987. Emma's only sibling, Elmer Isaac, passed away in 1982. Emma served as a Cub Scout leader, was a member of Richland P.T.A. and a Girl Scout leader during her children's school years. She was a member of the Shafter Woman's Club for many decades. Emma was a homemaker and helped her husband in the family business, Tillman's Hay Service, and during their empty nest years she and Bill enjoyed many fishing trips, cruises and time spent at their cabin at Lake Nacimiento. Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Dolores (David) Robinson of Shafter and Betty (Stan) Askew of Bakersfield. Grandchildren: Alan Robinson, Brian (Traci) Robinson of Bakersfield, Kathy (Del) Watts of Washington State, Jeff (Heidi) Askew of Fullerton, and Tyson (Tiffany) Tillman of Bakersfield. Great-grandchildren are Natalie and Makenzie Robinson, Erica and Sarah Bland, and Ashley Deptula. Emma also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, including special nieces Carol Isaac Schmidt and husband Ronnie, Nancy Isaac Blower and husband Fred. The family wishes to acknowledge the care of David Dougherty, M.D., Shawn Carpenter, Spiritual Counselor, Diane Green, RN, and Jessie Crites and other nurses of Hoffman Hospice. Special caretakers over the past five years have been Rosa Cruz, Debra Jones and Harriett Mellinger. We wish to thank them also for their loving friendship and dedicated service to Emma's comfort and welfare. A graveside service will held on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Shafter Memorial Park beginning at 11:00am. Visitation will be at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, on Sunday, January 30, 2011, from 2-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Macular Degeneration Foundation, PO Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061-0515 or to the charity of your choice.
