Obituary

Emilio Cantu was born in Los Ramones, Nuevo Leon, Mexico on May 30, 1949 to Santos and Antonia Cantu. He was raised and spent his early teenage years Monterrey, Neuvo Leon, Mexico. Emilio and his family moved to Mettler, California in 1965 and later settled in Lamont in 1967. Emilio employed by Bidart Brothers Farms and Yaksitch Farms, working as a tractor driver and a heavy equipment operator. He loved reading, going out for a good steak, watching soccer and baseball. Emilio always had a great sense of humor and loved to be the life of the party. He was always the one to tell a good joke just to make everyone around him laugh and smile. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Dorothy Cantu; by his mother, Antonia Cantu, sons; Emilio and wife Lea Cantu, Andres and wife Erendida, daughter, Rocio Cantu; brothers; Ernesto and wife Margarita Cantu, Jose S. and wife Gloria Cantu, sisters; Maria A. Cantu, and Maribel and husband Jesus Magana; two grandsons, Emilio Julian Cantu, and Val Alexander Cantu; many loving nieces and nephews; step-sons, Adolfo and wife Caroline Gonzalez and their children and Ruben Gonzalez. He was preceded in death by his father, Santos Cantu who passed away in 1996. Services under the direction of Hopson-Anspach Mortuary will be conducted as follows; visitation for Emilio will be held on Wednesday, September 3 from 5-9pm with Holy Rosary recited at 7pm at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Lamont. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 10am at St. Augustine's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at South Kern Cemetery District, Arvin.
