IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elvira Romo
Rodriguez
August 27, 1939 – November 12, 2015
Elvira Romo Rodriguez was born on August 27, 1939 in Wasco, California to Gonzalo G. Romo and Margarita Renteria Romo. Elvira was born to humble beginnings that forever shaped the selfless and generous woman she became. She attended St. John's Catholic School and graduated from Wasco High School. In High school, she enjoyed choir and homemaking courses. But was always drawn back to the crops during harvest throughout her childhood and adolescence. On April 22, 1961, she married Gavino (Rod) E. Rodriguez and moved to Shafter, California. To which, she began her life as a homemaker. Later, she was employed by Shafter High School in the department of food services for 20 years. Then retired, she assisted her husband in farming the family almond orchard. Her five children kept her busy with various sports activities and little league baseball games. She was our greatest cheerleader! Often, she chauffeured the neighborhood kids to practice and games. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, baking and working in her flower garden. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand daughter. Elvira will especially be remembered for her faithful and charitable heart. She is survived by her husband, Gavino (Rod) E. Rodriguez; daughter, Delia Escobedo (Jesse); son, Thomas Rodriguez (Yolanda); son, Paul Rodriguez (Susie); son, Mark Rodriguez (Maggie); daughter Lisa Rodriguez; grandchildren, Thomas A. Rodriguez, Sarah Polley (Mickey), Vincent, Tylor, Jade, Amanda, Deanna, Matthew, Zach, Chloe, Addison And Emma Rodriguez; great- granddaughter Aubrey Rose Rodriguez; sisters, Rosa Jimenez, Erlinda (Robert) Deleon, Theresa (Lupe) Medina, Rachael Gonzalez, Connie (Tony) Bernal; brothers, Gonzalo Romo Jr. and Isaac Romo. Elvira is preceded in death by her parents, Gonzalo G. and Margarita R. Romo; brother Ismael Romo; son Ricardo Rodriguez. Visitation will be held Monday, November 16, 2015 from 3pm to 8pm followed by recitation of the Holy Rosary 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter. Mass of the Christian Burial will be officiated by Msgr. Craig Harrison Tuesday November 17, 2015 at 9am at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Bakersfield.
