Elvira Perea was born January 25, 1919 in Chupicuaro, Guanajuato, Mexico one of 6 children born to Juanita Argueta Mejia and Casimiro Guerrero Olvera. She lived in Mexico and often visited family in Shafter, before moving here in 2011 to live with her daughter. She was married to Gregorio Perea Serrano and he preceded her in death on April 27, 1983. Elvira had a sharp memory and panoramic eyesight; she recounted old stories with details as if it had just happened yesterday and she was able to thread needles and knit scarves for all the grandchildren without using eyeglasses. She also loved to cook and family favorites were her green bean dish, pollo de tomatillo and chili chipotle. She loved to eat salads and chili and didn't eat fast food. Elvira always treasured and kept any gift she received treating it like a keepsake to remind her of her family's love for her. Elvira was a happy person and loved to sing, she was always surrounded by her family. She was very special to everyone and will be greatly missed. Elvira was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her children; Estela Perez, Maria Elena Torres, Carlota Dominguez, Isaias Perea, Elias Perea, Ramon Perea; and sister, Felicitas Guerrero. She had a total of 29 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren; She was preceded in death by her parents, Casimiro and Juanita Guerrero; daughter, Flora Dominguez; son, Manuel Perea; and siblings, Gertudes Guerrero, Magdalena Soto, Jose Guerrero and Eusebio Guerrero. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday January 1 at 6pm at St. Therese's Church for Elvira Guerrera Perea, age 95, of Shafter who passed away December 27, 2014 at home surrounded by her family. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said Friday, January 2, at 1pm at St. Therese's Church. Fr. Enriquez will officiate the service and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 1 from 2pm to 5:30pm and Friday, January 2 from 10am to 12:30pm at Peters Funeral Home. Elvira siempre cuidaba y mantenía cualquier regalo que recibía tratándolo como un recuerdo del amor que su familia tenía por ella. Elvira era una persona feliz y le gustaba mucho cantar, siempre estaba rodeada de su familia. Ella fue muy especial para todos y siempre la extrañaremos mucho. Elvira era una madre y una abuela amorosa. Le sobreviven sus hijos; Estela Pérez, María Elena Torres, Carlota Domínguez, Isaías Perea, Elías Perea, Ramón Perea; y su hermana, Felicitas Guerrero. Ella tiene un total de 29 nietos, 71 bisnietos y 11 gran bisnietos; Ella fue precedida en la muerte de sus padres, Casimiro y Juanita Guerrero; hija, Flora Domínguez; hijo, Manuel Perea; y hermanos, Gertudes Guerrero, Magdalena Soto, José Guerrero y Eusebio Guerrero. El Santo Rosario en honor y memoria de Elvira Guerrero Perea se recitara el jueves, 1 de enero 2015 a las 6pm en la iglesia de St. Teresa. Elvira Guerrera Perea con edad de 95 años, quien falleció el 27 de diciembre de 2014 en casa rodeada de su familia. La santa misa en su honor de cristiana sepultura será: el viernes, 2 de enero, a la 1pm en la iglesia de St. Teresa. El padre Enríquez oficiará el servicio y el entierro se llevara a cabo después de la santa misa en el Shafter Memorial Park. Su cuerpo será velado el jueves, 1 de enero de 2:00 pm a 5:30 pm y el viernes 2 de enero de 10: 00 am a 12:30 pm en la funeraria Peters en Shafter.
