Eloisa Lopez, age 88, was born November 18, 1919 in Yuma, Arizona to Cornelio Verela and Sarah (Gonzales) Perez. She came to Arvin, California in 1952 and in the early 1980's she moved to Bakersfield where she lived with her daughter. She worked was a farm labor during the summers. Eloisa was a raiders fan she enjoyed crossword puzzles, novelas and making tamales which were her specialty. Eloisa is survived by her five sons, Gilbert and wife Margarita Lopez, of Arizona; Esquiel (Sonny) and wife Kathie Lopez, of Oroville, Ca.; Fermin and wife Galyla Lopez, Daniel Lopez, and Ernesto and wife Naomi Lopez, of Bakersfield, Ca.; her daughter Sarah and husband Ronald Gaxiola, of Bakersfield, Ca.; her sister Oralia Patlan, of Arvin, Ca.; nineteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and many other loving family members. Eloisa is preceded in death by her parents, Cornelio Verela and Sarah (Gonzales) Perez, her husband Esquiel Lopez and several brothers and sisters. The family would like to give many thanks the staff of California Care Center and Dr. Frelenger of Sage Brush for all the wonderful work. Recitation of the Holy Rosary followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at 10am for Eloisa Perez Lopez, age 88, of Bakersfield, California, who passed away November 21, 2007 in Bakersfield, California. Father Jorge De La Torre of St. Thomas Catholic Church will officiate the service and interment will follow at South Kern Cemetery District. A visitation will be held at Arvin Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, November 26, 2007 from 2 to 8pm.
