Elmo "Pete" Padgett was born on November 10, 1912 to George and Beatrice Padgett , in Comanche, Texas. He was the middle child out of ten children, seven brothers and two sisters. At the age of eight they lost their parents and were sent to live at the Reynolds Presbyterian Home in Alabany, Texas. Elmo went on to graduate with a bachelors degree from Northern Texas State University. In 1940 he moved to California and met M. Irene Padgett, they got married the same year. His greatest joy in life was his family. Pete was a very loving and devoted husband and father. Through his life, he was a quiet and thoughtful man. He was smart and fun to be around until his final day, which he spent with his wife. Mr. Padgett worked as a chemist for a concrete company for 25 years before retiring. His hobbies included golfing, gardening and dominoes. He was preceded in death by his parents, his seven brothers and his two sisters. He is survived by his wife, M. Irene Padgett of Yucca Valley; his sons, William Padgett of Joshua Tree and James Padgett of Stafford, Va.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
