Elmer DeLois Crabtree "Sonny" was born November 9, 1937 to George and Ezzie Crabtree in Eufaula, Oklahoma where he confess Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Huttonville, Oklahoma. His education started in Huttonville, Oklahoma and continued in Eufaula Oklahoma where he attended Booker T. Washington High School. In 1954, the family relocated to Wichita, Kansas where he attended Wichita North High School. He then joined New Hope Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas. He gained skills working side by side with his father in housing construction. After completing high school he moved to Los Angeles, California. Sonny started his first job at Kola Automotive, he later gained employment in the construction field working for Pacific Pipe Line soon after he started, "Macco Construction" where he was promoted to Superintendent, he held the title until he retired in 1995 with 52 years of experience, Sonny was a hardworking man and loved what he did. Sonny met his soul mate; Julia Etta (Burgess) Crabtree (Judy) in 1974, the type of love they shared was a forever ship. He was a kind hearted, caring, loving husband and father. He was loved by all; always ready to lend a helping hand to others in need. The family called him "Ol' Sonny". He loved going hunting, fishing, traveling and having family gatherings. Mid 1995 Sonny and Judy opened a restaurant M & W Soul Food in Gardenia, CA. They ran a successful business until his health started to fail in 2007. Sonny was called quietly to rest on Wednesday, March 12, 2014. He was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Maurice Crabtree; father, George F. Crabtree, mother, Ezzie Crabtree, brother, George E. Crabtree. He leaves to cherish the memories of his loving wife: Julia E. Crabtree; sons, Wallace, Andre Crabtree, Abron "Marcellouws" Hawkins, daughters; Jacqueline Crabtree, Jamie Reed; grandchildren, Shanika Tualaulelei, Danielle Dantzler, Nicholas, Savannah & Torrianna Jones, Dalenisha, Wallace, Jr., Shaylynn & Danielle Crabtree, Andrea, Angelina, & Andrenay Crabtree, Clanay Smith & Bayesha Alexander; sisters, Billie Jean Carney and Ezzie Wyvaughn Conley of Wichita, KS Brother; Val Jean Crabtree (sister in law) Shirley Crabtree of Carson, CA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
