Elmer Ray Boren was born to James Thomas Boren and Ellen Mae (Hull) Boren on November 16, 1929 in McCurtain, Oklahoma in Haskell County. He married the love of his life, Betty Ann Paul on November 4, 1952. Elmer proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Elmer moved with his family to Kern County in 1965. Elmer worked in agriculture and as an agriculture mechanic in Oklahoma and continued in the same field in California. Elmer worked for Eugene Black and Clint Randolph in Delano and then for David Snell in McFarland for many years before retiring. Elmer worked his last 30 years of employment for David Snell side by side with his son Kenny. Elmer is remembered as being a simple man that enjoyed simple things most. Elmer loved family most of all. He enjoyed Sunday barbeques with the family and good friends. Elmer is survived by his sons, Stephen Ray Boren (Karen) of Batesville, Arkansas, Elmer Ray (Buddy) Boren Jr. and (companion Debbie)of McFarland, CA, Kenneth Wayne Boren (fiancée Laura) and daughter Christie Denise Newcomb (Kevin)both of Wasco. Grandsons: Shawn Boren, Justin Boren, Brandon Boren, Kolby Boren, Kameron Boren, Bradley Newcomb and Tyler Newcomb. Great grandchildren: Jordon Boren and Audrey Boren and Brooklyn Boren. Elmer was preceded in death, his wife Betty in 2004. He was also preceded by brothers: Clyde, Homer, JB and Genie and sisters: Bonnie and Donnie, all of Oklahoma and grandson Daniel Boren of Arkansas. Viewing will be held Thursday, Feb 2, 2012 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Peters Funeral Home. Graveside services will be Friday, Feb 3, 2012 at the Wasco Memorial Park..
