Ella was born in Haskell, Texas on January 20, 1933 to Samuel Davis and Effie (Glover) Davis. She married Leroy Wood and together they raised their 6 children. Mae, as she was known, was the epitome of the perfect wife and mother, she was loving, caring, and giving toward everyone, including her dearly loved dog, Snowflake. She was a very thoughtful and considerate person who would always remember every ones birthday and would call or send a birthday card to all her family members'. Mae was an amazing cook whose chicken fried steak and gravy recipe could not be recreated, no matter how great the efforts. She lived through many difficult times, but she always remained positive with her beautiful smiles, laughter, and happiness. Mae loved her family with all her heart and that is how she passed away surrounded peacefully with her family by her side on August 28, 2015 at her home. Her radiant and upbeat soul will be missed and forever loved. Mae is survived by her sons, Herb Lee Wood, Danny Leon (Deborah) Wood, Carl Ray Wood, Ricky (Debra) Wood, Kenton Lynn (Debra) Wood; only daughter, Jane (Michael) Cupps; sister, Burndean Larsen; grandchildren, Michael Wood, Tracy (Robbie) Smith, Tiffany (Gary) Mashburn, Jason (Melissa) Wood, Christy Nunlist, Kevin Wood, Andrew Wood, Anna Wood, Alex Wood, Clifton Cupps; 16 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Wood; parents Samuel and Effie Davis; granddaughter, Amy Wood; grandson, Amos Wood; Great granddaughter, Lilli Wood; sister Ruby Wilson; brothers, W.A Davis and Elton Davis. A funeral service was officiated by Pastor Mike Polley on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 11am at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter, Ca. A visitation was held Thursday, September 3, 2015 from 4-8pm at Peters Funeral home in Shafter.
