Edward Pete Rivera Sr. was born on December 6, 1925 in Bakersfield, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Torivio and Teresa Rivera and his brothers, David, Joe, Freddie, and William. Edward is survived by his wife, Angelina Rivera, whom he was married to for 60 ½ years, his 6 children: Ruben, Marybelen, Eddie, Charlie, Richard, and James, his 13 grandchildren: Cindi, Charlie, Ruben Steven, Vannie, Elena, Monique, Cameron, Alisha, Edie, Adan, James Jr., Elliot, Steven, and 12 great grandchildren. Edward was a WWII Navy Veteran and had been assigned to the USS LST 1031 Naval Ship. He was the past President and active member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was the past President of the Native Sons of California and the Druids. Edward was well known for his passion and dedication to the Eagles. He was there enjoying every Friday night dinner. He had an outgoing personality, a love for music and he loved to be around his family and friends and being the life of the party. He will be missed. Mass will be held for Edward Pete Rivera, age 83, Wednesday, May 27, 2009 – 9am at St. Francis Church, interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 26, from 2 to 8 pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary Chapel with a Rosary at 7pm. The Rivera family would like to acknowledge our appreciation for the hospice care given by Cricket Eads and Natasha Jackson of Optimal Hospice Care. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Optimal Hospice Care.
