Edward "Ed" Lee Pruitt passed away on December 27, 2012 in Wasco, CA. Ed was born on September 25, 1950 to Ted and Dorothy Pruitt in Upland, CA. Born the middle son of three boys and 1 girl, Ed and his family moved around often due to family circumstances changing. Ed enjoyed fishing, golfing, hunting and being an involved grandfather. He would have his grandchildren work with him outside to experience hard work with their hands and the sweat on their brow. Ed's grandkids recall those lessons as "family slavery", while Ed knew he was instilling a hard work ethic into them. Ed was a direct communicator; meaning he was blunt with his words, a straight shooter. Another of Ed's distinguishing characteristics was his stubbornness; apparently this quality carried a genetic influence because it was also known to Ed and his family as "The Pruitt Blood". Ed was also a kind man that always strived to do what was right. That kindness was probably brought out by the love and commitment to his wife, Phyllis Pruitt. They met at a young age. Phyllis fondly recalls their first date when she told Ed that she had to be home by 10 o'clock at night; Ed responded with, "Why? Are you going to turn into a pumpkin?". Ed and Phyllis were married in 1986 in Las Vegas. Ed was a big man with an even bigger heart and he will be dearly missed. Edward Lee Pruitt is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Dorothy Pruitt. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis J. Pruitt, Son, Edward L. Pruitt, Jr. and wife Teresa of Wasco; daughter Kimberly Rizer and husband Scott Rizer of Bakersfield and step children; Eric Hopkins, Darrell Hopkins of Bakersfield, Carie Hopkins and husband Joe Aguire of Wasco; brothers, Ted Pruitt , Fred Pruitt; sister Dove Alburg; 18 grandchildren; Amanda Hopkins, Adam Hopkins, Rebecaa Murrietta, Adrianna Murrietta, Olivia and Naomi Ruic, Samantha Hopkins, Vanessa Hopkins, Ryan Hopkins, Dilllan Hopkins, Isaiah Hopkins, Justin Hopkins, Carlia, Sarah, Nick, Roman Pruitt, Valerie Pruitt, Jessi, Allison and Timothy; 3 great grandchildren Clarissa Pruitt, Zaden Pruitt and Jullian Hernandez and one on the way. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 2pm at Peters Funeral Home for Edward Lee Pruitt, age 62, of Wasco, who passed away on December 27, 2012 in Delano, California.
