Dolphus was a role model and a great man to those who knew him. Dolphus was honest and a man of integrity. He stood by his word. He was faithful and inspirational. He always thought of others. Dolphus was always willing to lend a hand. He was caring and giving. Dolphus was very tenacious when it came to his work. He didn't let anything get the best of him. But most of all, he WAS a man of God. He started his day in prayer before anything else. Dolphus may be gone physically, but the legacy that we all remember will live in all of us forever. Dolphus was born on April 10, 1917 in Fort Cobb, Oklahoma. Edgar was 1 of 10 kids. He had 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Dolphus had 4 sons, Nelson, Larry, Kenny, Eddie (deceased) and 1 daughter Gaylene Geil. He also had 2 stepchildren Virginia Cook, Don Smith, and Ron Smith (deceased). Dolphus loved his wife Lucille Carter very much. Dolphus parents were Edgar and Otha Carter. Dolphus has 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. Dolphus moved to Shafter, CA in 1937. He has lived in Shafter for the past 75 years. Dolphus managed the Shafter Labor Camp where he retired. Dolphus also had a Prison Ministry at the Lerdo Jail for 34 years. Dolphus went to be with the Lord on January 19, 2012. Funeral Services will be held on Tues, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 am at 7th Standard Pentecostal Church. The Church is located off of 7th Standard Road and Sante Fe Way. Visitation will be held Mon, January 23 from 2-8pm with family greeting visitors from 4-6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
