Dorthy Viola Owens July 4, 1914 – August 31, 2011 On August 31, 2011, Dorthy Owens began the sunrise and morning of her eternal day.Born on July 4, 1914, in Murray County, Oklahoma, she married Fred Owens in 1937. They settled in Arvin, California, where they lived until moving to Oregon, in 2000. Dorthy is best known for her love for god and her Lord Jesus Christ. Her life produced an abundance of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. She shared her love for people with everyone with whom she came in contact. She was a long-time member of the Arvin Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday school classes and led the Women's Missionary Counsel. She was active in the lives of people hurting, assisting them in any way possible. Her love touched many people as she planted and watered God's Word. Dorthy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred, daughter June Owens, grandchildren, Debbie Cota and Trenton Owens and great grandson, Mario Cota. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Chet and Lanell Owens of Lampasas, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Judy Owens of Scio, Oregon, and daughter and son-in-law, Alethia and Connor Ragle of Bakersfield, California. She was honored to be the grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers, three sisters and numerous other relatives and friends. A celebration of her live will be Friday, September 10, 2011, 10 AM, at the Arvin Cemetery, Arvin, California.
