Jeane was born to Zena Rodgers and Jess Fair on August 7, 1923, in Mt. Ida, Arkansas. She was raised by Jess and Nellie Fair. Jeane married Luther Sowder on August 27, 1945 in Okemah, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Shafter in 1953. Jeane worked for Douglas Aircraft for over 30 years. Her hobbies included reading, storytelling and travel. Jeane also enjoyed crocheting and sewing; she was a master seamstress. Jeane is proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Luther; daughter, Sandra; son-in-law, John; siblings, Don and Tommy Fair, and Luetta Carter. She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Booton and Janice Sowder; her brother, Bill Fair and wife Ida Karen; grandchildren, David Walker and wife Maria, Bebe Walker, and Jessica and husband Chad Settles; great grandchildren, Blake, Brent, Trent, Garrett, Aiden and Myla Jeane. Visitation was held at Peters Funeral Home on April 19, 2011 from 4-7pm, and a graveside service was held at Shafter Memorial Park on April 20, 2011 at 11am. Pastor Charles Jester officiated the service.
