IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Rosemarie
Uvaas
October 5, 1925 – September 9, 2009
Dorothy Rosemarie Uvaas, 83, of Joshua Tree, California went home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2009. She was born to the late John and Johanna Teed on October 5, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois. Dorothy graduated from St. Nicholas Catholic Elementary School, (Chicago), in 1939. She served as Senior Class President at Saints Peter-and-Paul High School (Chicago), while earning her diploma in 1943. She married Raymond M. Uvaas in 1953, and they lived together in Whittier, California before re-locating to Joshua Tree, CA. in 1988. "Mom" was a devout Catholic. She was a parishioner of St. Bruno's Catholic Church, (Whittier, CA.), and St. Christopher-of-the-Desert Catholic Church in Joshua Tree, CA. Dorothy was a diligent, hard-working bank employee starting with Pullman Trust and Savings Bank in Chicago, Illinois. She then worked at Security National Bank, (which became Security Pacific Bank). She concluded her thirty-five years of employment with the Bank-of-America, (earning a well-deserved retirement in 1988). "Mom" enjoyed raising her family of four boys and one girl. Also, she enjoyed going on family outings and camping trips throughout the years. In the 1970s, she was an enthusiastic troop leader of the East Whittier Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. During her retirement years, "Mom" loved to go to the "Spa Indian Casino" in Palm Springs and the casinos in Laughlin, Nevada to win the "big bucks" on the slot machines. Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of fifty-six years: Raymond Uvaas; her five children: Arthur of Joshua Tree, CA.; Mary Jo McGraw of Athol, Idaho; Timothy, Mark, and Matthew of Whittier, California. She is also survived by six grand-children and her son's, (Timothy and Mark's), beloved spouses: Cheryl and Tina.
