Obituary

Dorothy Mae Rosales was born in Anadarko, Oklahoma on January 28, 1921, to William and Martha Henderson. She went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2007, at her home in Shafter, California, with her family by her side. Dorothy met her husband, Tony in Anadarko, Oklahoma, and they were married on December 31, 1938, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They moved to Arizona in 1942, and ran a dairy before moving to Shafter in 1949, with their 4 small children. Dorothy never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh. She was a person of high moral character who was always there for the people who loved her. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, yard selling and reading. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Tony in 1998; her 11 year old son, Tony Jr, in 1966, and her son-in-law, Cruz Sabedra, whom Dorothy and Tony thought of as their own son, in 1996. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Sabedra of Bakersfield, Shirley Fowler and husband, Chet of Bakersfield, Delores Mizner and husband, Larry of Arizona; son, Billy Joe Rosales of Shafter; sisters, Maxine Rosales of Shafter, Pauline Price and Betty DeLong of Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren and all her special friends who helped her and loved her unconditionally. A funeral service will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at 10am, for Dorothy Mae Rosales, age 86, of Shafter, who passed away April 28, 2007, in Shafter. Chaplain Pat Roberts of Optimal Hospice will officiate the service and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, from 2 to 8pm. Serving as casket bearers will be grandsons, Cruz Sabedra, III, Chet Ray Fowler, Jr., Billy Joe Rosales, Jr., great-grandsons, Gregory Cervantes, III, Michael Cruz Cervantes and Angel Ramos; honorary bearers will be grandsons, John Sabedra, Mike McNatt, Anthony Wiley and Corey Dickinson, and great-grandson, Christopher Cervantes.
