Dora Mae Bradford was born July 29, 1946 in Bakersfield, California one of 5 children born to Evelyn and Arnold Wittenberg. She grew up in Shafter and graduated from Shafter High School with the Class of 1964. In spite of being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 18, she led a full life as a mother, grandmother and homemaker. Dora enjoyed crafting which she put to good use, making and selling Nativity sets. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles; but her grandchildren were the center of her life. She loved to babysit, buy them pizza or spend any extra money she had on gifts for them. Dora spent the last 9 years of her life as a resident of Golden Living Center and will be missed by the staff and caregivers. She endured a lot of pain, had artificial hip and knee replacements and through it all she persevered. The family takes comfort in knowing she is healed, has no pain and is with her heavenly Father. Dora was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Evelyn Wittenberg; son, Paul Bradford; and grandson, Jose de Jesus Rodriguez. She is survived by her daughter, Carrie Bradford; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Perez Ramirez, Lorenzo Perez, Angelita Hernandez, Michael Bradford and Vanessa Fuentes; 9 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth Ann McGraw and husband Gene; brothers, Kenneth Wittenberg and wife Ronda, Chuck Wittenberg and wife Karen; Arnold Wittenberg and wife Terri. A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 13 at 1pm at Shafter Memorial Park for Dora Mae Bradford, age 69, who passed away August 8, 2015 in Bakersfield. A visitation will be held before the service starting at 10am at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
