Donnie Gene Williamson

Donnie Gene Williamson, 72, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Rector, Arkansas, Donnie was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who will be remembered for his loyalty, sense of humor, creativity, and artistic talent.

Donnie devoted 47 years to serving local schools, beginning his career as a bus driver and retiring as Supervisor of Transportation for the Fruitvale School District. Throughout his career, he was a true champion for the children he served. He is survived by his wife, Vickie; his daughter and son and their spouses, Hollie Schubert (Chris) and Justin (Suzanne); his granddaughter, Allison; his sisters, Joyce Brinsfield, Jeannette Ellis, and Mary Morgan; his brother, William Williamson, all of Bakersfield; and several nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.

A graveside funeral service was held on August 7, 2026, at Shafter Memorial Park.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Aguirre and the staff at Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kern County Cancer Foundation in Donnie’s memory.
