Donna Gail Burchett a resident of Bakersfield passed away Friday 08 July 2011 after a lifetime battle of health issues. While she was in her hospital bed praying she felt a hand gently touch her knee and she knew that Jesus was there with her. She was ready to meet her Lord and Savior when she closed her eyes for the last time, in the presence of her family, calling out the name of Jesus. Donna G. Burchett was born February 13, 1954 in Bakersfield, CA, one of seven children born to Shirley Jean (Stuckey) and Harvey George Johnson. Her greatest joy was her ministry of handing out The Expositors Study Bible's she would purchase from The Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, which brought many people to serve the lord as a result. Donna enjoyed teaching children in her Sunday school class for several years until her health began to decline. She had a lovely singing voice in which she would sing songs in church and also sang for a time with the Lighthouse Singers later called The Lighthouse Boys. She loved spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens, making her own compost and picking her fresh vegetables. Her family was her life, caring and nurturing over her mother; and her valued treasures were her children, son Tim who took care of all their personal matters; daughter Kristy who she spent much time in the kitchen with making things from their favorite recipe books. Donna taught her children how to pray and wanted her whole family to meet her in heaven. Donna was a quiet natured person, who always came when someone needed help. She never said a bad thing to anyone. She was taken from us to soon, and we will carry our broken hearts in this world until we see her again in heaven, never to be apart again. Donna's family would like to send out a special thanks to everyone who prayed for her, and to Dr. Harold Bear of Central Nephrology Medical Group, her caring eye doctor Dr. Carole Casteen, and Dr. William Nyitray of CCMC, all of whom she trusted very much. The DaVita Dialysis Center and all their staff that cared for her, Donna would often tell her children "Remember, don't cry for me, because I'll be absent from this body and present with the Lord." Donna Gail Burchett is preceded in death by her infant son Andrew (1976) and father Harvey Johnson (1988); surviving members of the family include children Timothy Albert and Kristy Renee Burchett; her dear Mother Shirley Johnson, brothers Steve (Carol) Johnson, Gerald (Teri) Johnson, Gary Johnson and David Johnson; Sisters Sharon (William) Underwood and Barbara (Timothy) Gonzales; Her aunts and many nieces and nephews along with a large church family, numerous friends and acquaintances. A 10am Graveside Service will be held for Donna Gail Burchett, age 57, of Bakersfield, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at South Kern Cemetery District (Arvin Cemetery). Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary 620 Oregon Street.
