Donald G. Loewen July 12,1933 – November 5,2012 Don Loewen was born July 12,1933 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. When he was 13 his family moved to Shafter, California. Don attended Wasco High School, Fresno Pacific College, and Fresno State University. He then went on to teach elementary, high school, and junior college in Kern County for over 35 years. He enjoyed water skiing, snowmobiling, ATV riding, and collecting 1940 Fords. In his retirement, he volunteered his time with Choice Books. He traveled to set up and stock the books for this Christian based inspirational book company. He also belonged to an organization that helped to repair and remodel churches around the world. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marian, his son Steve, and his daughter Sandra. He was preceded in death by his oldest daughter, Carol. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 9:30 am at Shafter Memorial Park. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 am at Rosedale Bible Church, 16000 Rosedale Hwy, Bakersfield.
