Dolores Barrera was born in Tangancicuaro, Michoacan, Mexico on December 20, 1940 to Celia and Daniel Alvarez. She married her best friend, Roberto Barrera at the age of 20 and together they had four (4) children. They moved to Wasco in the early 1980s and retired here. She was a full time housewife who made every effort to have a warm house and food on the table for her family; she cooked for hours in order to have large meals and her table surrounded by the sound of laughter and love enjoying good food. She crocheted many items for her family and friend; she had lots of crafts that she gave her attention to. When spending time with her, she made it appoint to make you laugh or at minimum leave with a smile, she had a happy spirit and shared it with anyone that came into her home. Dolores Barrera is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto Barrera (2002), daughter Irma; brothers Jesus Alvarez; sisters Josefina Fernandez, Margarita Alvarez and Carmen Camarillo. She is survived by her son Francisco Barrera; daughters Rosa Almaraz (Mauro), Leticia Lopez (Jesse); grandchildren Mauro Jr., Samuiel, Elizabeth and Lupita Almaraz; brothers Daniel and Roberto Alvarez; sisters Guadalupe Ramirez, Luisa Alvarez and Soledad Leyva; large extended family, numerous friends and acquaintances. Father Pedro Umana will officiate a Mass of the Resurrection Friday, November 26, 2010 – 10am at St. Therese's Catholic Church in Shafter, interment will immediately follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, November 25, 2010 from 2 to 8pm for Dolores Barrera, of Wasco, age 69, at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco. Ella era ama de casa por tiempo completo quien izo todo el desfuerzo de tener un hogar caluroso y su mesa con comida para su familia; ella duraba horas cocinando para tener mucha comida y ver su familia contenta en la mesa, escuchando el sonido de carcajadas, desfrutando de la comida. Ella tejia muchos antojitos para su familia y amistades, atentamente le dio a barios proyectos su atención. Cuando se pasaba uno tiempo con ella, ella asia el esfuerzo de hacerte reír, o alo menos te dejaba con una sonrisa, tenia un espirito contento y lo compartió con todos que llegaban a su casa. Dolores Barrera fue predesida en muerto por su esposo, Roberto Barrera (2002), hija Irma; hermano Jesús Álvarez; hermanas Josefina Fernández, Margarita Álvarez y Carmen Camarillo. La sobrevive su hijo Francisco Barrera; hijas Rosa Almaraz (Mauro), Leticia López (Jesse); hermanos Daniel y Roberto Álvarez; nieto(s) Mauro Jr., Samuiel, Elizabeth y Lupita Almaraz hermanas Guadalupe Ramírez, Luisa Álvarez y Soledad Leyva; grande familia extendida, números amistades y conocidos. Padre Pedro Umana será el oficiante en la Misa de la Resurrección el dia 26 de Noviembre, 2010 – 10am en la Iglesia Católica de Santa Teresa en Shafter, entierro sigue inmediatamente en el Parque Memorial de Wasco. Visitación será el Jueves, día 25 de Noviembre, 2010 de las 2 a las 8pm para Dolores Barrera, de Wasco, edad 69, en la Funeraria de Peters, Wasco.
