Dillia Ophilia Adams was born December 9, 1923 in Athens, Alabama to Edward Blaire & Louise Alberta (Campbell) Adams. She was raised and grew up in Arkansas and married Earl Jones who passed away (date). Dillia married O'Neal Lindsey and they moved to Arvin in 1946. She later married Bill Lindsey who also preceded her in death on (date). Dillia and Robert George were married on (date) and they continued to make Arvin their home. Dillia worked in agriculture for Gold Ribbon Potato Company, Giumarra Farms, Mazzie Farms and various farm labor contractors. She like many of her generation was a hard worker who also managed to raise her 6 children, 3 step-daughters, many foster children and helped any others who needed food or clothes. She attended local churches and shared her gift of music with special singing during services. Dillia also liked to help out with the bake sales at church. Her family's favorite dish was chocolate gravy with biscuits and they have passed her recipe down the generations. Dillia's favorite pastime was fishing and she frequented Lake Isabella, but was known to go anywhere there were fish. She and Robert enjoyed traveling and made regular trips back to Arkansas, Alabama, Las Vegas and were able to take a trip to New York which she really enjoyed. Dillia is survived by her husband, Robert George of Arvin; sons, Sonnie Lindsey & wife Nita of Lone Pine, Ronnie Lindsey of Fresno, Jimmie Lindsey & wife Vicki of Yuba city, Phillip Lindsey & wife Judy of Warner, Oklahoma and Wayne Lindsey & wife Janet of Bakersfield; daughter, Shillia LaFavor & husband George of Arvin; step-daughters, Billy Sue Laudermilk & husband James of Arkansas, Joan Bell & husband Jack of Mississippi and Melanie Sores & husband Eddie of Ceres; brothers, Charles Adams of Lake Isabella, and Louis Adams & wife Ruth of Bakersfield; sisters, Helen Settlemire of Arkansas and Letha Wilson of Bakersfield; and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at Arvin Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 28th at 10am for Dillia Ophilia Lindsey George, age 83, of Arvin who passed away March 24, in Arvin. (name of pastor & his church) will officiate and interment will at South Kern Cemetery District, Arvin. A visitation will be held at Arvin Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 27th from 2pm to 8pm.
