Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt "tia" and friend Diana Santa Cruz passed away on June 24th, 2011. Diana was born in Bakersfield on September 22, 1949, one of 3 daughters born to Celia Chavez and Joe Santa Cruz. Diana worked for many years as a dog groomer at The Proud Pooch. Any opportunity that came by for a casino trip, poker game or camping at the beach, she was the first to claim her seat. Other past times include playing guitar, drums and singing with her longtime friends in their all-girl band at their favorite bar. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the San Joaquin Surgical ICU, Fresenius Dialysis Center and Valley Medical Transport. All of whom took great care of our mom. Diana is survived by her sisters, Ernestine "Ernie" Torres and Baldo Lomas and Linda and Leonard Hernandez; daughters, Andrea Santa Cruz and David Polston and Adrian Santa Cruz-Bateman; sons, Joe Santa Cruz and Jennifer Ivey and Jeff and Sandy Harrington; and her beloved grandchildren Sally, Sadie, Savannah, Sierra, 'Lil Joey, Angel, Isaac, Chasiti, Chad and Becca. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29, at 12noon at New Life Center, 4201 Stine Road for Diana Santa Cruz, age 61, of Bakersfield who passed away June 24, 2011. Pastor Jose will officiate the service and interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 28 from 2pm – 8pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon.
