Obituary

Dian Lorraine Roden died Nov. 4, 2008, in her Yucca Valley home of ovarian cancer. She was 88 years old. The daughter of James Blaine Fullerton and Carolyn Marie Daughtery, she was born April 14, 1920, in Los Angeles; she was a lifelong resident of California and a 10-year resident of the Morongo Basin. Mrs. Roden was an accountant for 23 years before she retired. A lifelong animal lover especially fond of horses, she donated to many animal rescue organizations, as well as to veteran and child-welfare organizations.. She was a member and officer of the American Saddlers Horseback Drill Team. She was married to Morris Woodrow Roden for 38 years; he preceded her in death in 1977. Daughter Dian Carolyn Kramer preceded her in death in 1993. Mrs. Roden is survived by son and daughter-in-law Ray and Kathy Roden of Yucca Valley, grandchildren Darrell Tinsley II of Landers, Brian and Paulette Jones of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Blaine Roden of Landers and Patrick and Amanda Roden of Roseburg, Ore., and six great-grandchildren, all living in Oregon. The service will be private. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Roden's family requests donations in her memory be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties Hospice in Yucca Valley.
