Denver Followill November 8, 1950 – July 2, 2010 Denver Followill was born November 8, 1950 in Casa Grande, Arizona to Otis and Lemandy (Bell) Followill. When Denver was a young boy, the family moved to California, first to Farmersville then settling in Arvin where he went to school. Denver worked in agriculture for several farms in the area including, McClanahan's in Mettler, Barton's, Kovacevich Farms and Giumarra Farms. Denver and Wanda were married November 23, 1972. Denver loved sports and his favorite teams were the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengal's. In his younger years he played baseball in the local leagues' and Amestoy's sponsored his team. He also loved to gamble and play the nickel slots whenever he could. Denver could always remember everyone's birthday and phone numbers and had a sharp mind. He was always laughing and he kept a smile on his face, he enjoyed making people happy. Denver is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wanda of Bakersfield; sons, Steven Sutton of Florida, Troy Followill and wife Michelle of Bakersfield; daughter, Tracie Sutton of Florida; brothers, Odie Followill and wife Joyce of Oklahoma, Bobby Followill and wife Martha of Bakersfield and Archie Followill and wife Carolyn of Texas; sisters, Linda McMullen and husband Dewey of Texas and Dewanah Vassar and husband Ricky of Texas; 11 grandchildren and special cousin, L.J. Bell and wife Linda of Bakersfield. His parents preceded him in death. A graveside service under the direction of Arvin Funeral Home will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 10am at South Kern Cemetery, Arvin for Denver A.Z. Followill, age 59, of Bakersfield who passed away July 2, 2010 at his home. Pastor Graham Bell of the New Life Church, Lamont, will officiate and interment will follow.
