Obituary

Denver Guy Ellis passed away at his home in Warner, Oklahoma on July 8, 2012. Denver was born July 14, 1930 to Treva and Florence (McMennaney) Ellis in Achille, Oklahoma. He was one of fifteen children. Denver's family moved to Arizona for a short period of time before moving to Shafter, CA in 1940. On January 6, 1950 Denver married Faye Kilgore. This loving union lasted 51 years, until Faye's passing in December of 2000. Denver is survived by one son; Randy Ellis and wife Laura of Warner, Oklahoma, two daughters Debbie Hoggard and husband Alan of Bakersfield, CA, and Dena Adams and husband Mike of Keefeton, Oklahoma. Grandchildren Chad Hoggard and wife Brenda, Jason Hoggard, Mitchell Bonner and wife Janae, all of Bakersfield, Brooke Dishman and husband Adam of Warner, Oklahoma and Aaron Adams of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Great grandchildren Alyssa & Eathan Hoggard, Autumn Hoggard, Alyssa & Ryan Bonner, Waylon and Adysen Dishman. Sisters Olene and husband Paul Carroll of Golden, Oklahoma; Omega and husband Kenny Smith of Shafter, CA; Gloria and husband Alan Icho of Visalia, CA. Brother Jerry and wife Kathy Ellis of Visalia, CA, Sister in law Pat Tuck of Bakersfield, CA and Sister in law and brother in law Doris and Gene Simpson of Salinas, CA. Denver is preceded in death by his parents, wife and numerous brothers and sisters. Denver was a member of the Wasco Masonic Temple, 3 B's in Shafter, and New Hope Assembly of God. Denver was baptized in Deer Creek on August 7, 1993 along with his daughter and son in law Debbie and Alan Hoggard at their home in California Hot Springs. Denver retired from Pacific Irrigation in 1993 and moved to Warner, Oklahoma with his wife where he achieved his lifetime dream of owning a small cattle ranch. Prior to this move, Denver and Faye enjoyed camping at Mammoth Pools, CA with family and friends. He loved to BBQ, tell stories, go to the Red Wagon Café and make people laugh with his sense of humor. Denver will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Shafter, CA.
