Dennis Allen Jones was born December 29, 1941 to Elenore Rosemarie (Imig) and Daniel Allen Jones in San Diego. He was raised and schooled in San Diego, and went on to graduate from engineering design school. Dennis was the only civilian design engineer with the Department of Navy in San Diego with a secret service clearance and received a commendation from the Secretary of Navy for his design work on the Battleship New Jersey when she was recommissioned. Dennis married Ramona Brown December 24, 1966 in Winterhaven, California and 19 years ago renewed their vows in the Catholic Church. Dennis was self-employed as a logger in Washington, owned a mobile home repair shop in South Dakota and built and ran a Bakery in Washington. Dennis was an ordained Baptist minister and while living in Washington had a ministry to homeless street people. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Garrett (1978); daughter, Sandy Sue Knapp (2006); son-in-law, Darrell Knapp (2006) grandson, Noah (2006); son-in-law; Darrell Knapp (2006) and sister, Danielle Jones. Dennis is survived by his wife, Ramona of Shafter; son, Dennis Ray Jones currently serving in Iraq and stationed out of Texas; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Rebecca) Jones, David (Mary) Jones; and sisters, Deanna (David) Palmer, Dorothy (Bill) Amen. A Chapel service will be held June 30, 2008 at 2pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter.
