IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Demple Ann
Amos
October 2, 1934 – June 25, 2011
Demple passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Demple was born in Deport, Texas to Willie and Mary Esther Mitchell. In May of 1948, leaving the complexity of the family farm of her grandfather Simpson Lemar Cowley, the family relocated from Hugo, Oklahoma to Shafter, California driving in a 1946 fully equipped Ford including running boards and water bags. Demple's father found work on The Wood Stone Ranch in Shafter, where many family memories were made across several generations. Demple attended Richland and Maple Elementary Schools, and Shafer and Wasco High Schools. She graduated from Lufkin's Business School in 1950. She worked for rose growers in the Wasco area for 38 years before retiring from that industry. In 1958 she married Doyle Lee Amos in Shafter where they lived until 17 years ago, at which time they relocated in Bakersfield, and have recently celebrated 52 years of married life. Demple loved caring for all of her family and her many pets, her beautiful home in the Rosedale area antiquing, cooking fabulous meals especially with items from the home garden, (and let it be known there was nothing she couldn't cook except a small meal), entertaining, camping in the mountains and the beach, trips to The Central Coast, music including country western and gospel hymns, Hollywood glamour, and playing a card game called Hand and Foot. We will always remember her saying things like, "If you do it right the first time, you will only have to do it once" and "The world is round – you will reap what you sew!" along with many, many others. Demple is preceded in death by her parents Willie and Mary Esther Mitchell, mother-in-law Monty Barnhill, brother Charles Mitchell, sisters-in-law Darlene Mitchell, Darlene Amos, and nephew Michael Mitchell. She is survived by her beloved family: husband, Doyle Lee Amos, children Ernest Tolbert, Cheryl Tolbert-Mitchell, Dallas Tolbert (Claudia), Vickie Berry, step daughters Brenda Clinton (Delbert), Sandy Tucker (Billy), brother Dough Mitchell, sister Martha Huntington (Ron), sisters-in-law Beverly Mitchell, Joyce Ryker (Wesley), Minnie Burch (Bob), brother-in-law Robert Barnhill (Judy), grandsons Jesse Tolbert, Ryan Tolbert, Travis Mitchell (Amy), TJ Harris, Brian Tolbert and Stephen Berry, granddaughters Laurie Sparks, Marisa Mitchell, Rusty Tolbert, Rachel Slape, and Kayla Mitchell, 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend Betty Sage. Demple will be greatly missed by her family and friends; however, they hold to the promise in the Word of God that for all the saints~to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The family would like to thank the staff's at the Bakersfield Heart Hospital, Greater Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, Dr. Nalos, Dr. Bambi, Lifehouse Nursing Home, and Optimal Hospice's special staff including Alma Perry, Sandy White, Tonya Baker, Mike, and Amy, and Caroline for all of their efforts during these long-term medical complication. Rest in Peach Demple, and enjoy being make whole in Heaven in the presence of God along with all of your loved ones who have gone before you. One day we will all reunite and live with you and the Lord forever, and what a glorious time that will be on the streets of gold. We all love and miss you.
