Delbert (Collins) Crosby was born September 7, 1932 in Muldrow, Oklahoma to Ira Francis and Daisy (Higgins) Crosby. He was their 3rd child with two older brothers, Bob and Bill, and a younger sister, Dorothy. The family moved to California in about 1934 and lived in Wasco for many years. Delbert Collins worked many years in the Kern County area. He began working at the age of 11 at Sallie's Grocery Store (a relative's market) in Wasco. When he worked the cash register at Sallie's, he had to stand on a box to reach the keys. In 1958 Collins went to work for Tops Market in Wasco, later, he transferred to manage the Tops Market in Shafter. In 1980's he purchased a little country store on Rosedale Hwy., which he named Crosby's Market. It was just a little country store, but he loved working there. Delbert Collins Crosby loved being outdoors, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Delbert Collins Crosby was preceded in death by his parents Sarah Daisy Crosby and Ira Francis Crosby and his brothers Bob and Bill Crosby. Delbert is survived by his wife, Jo Ann (Robert )Crosby; his sister, Dorothy Hoffman; his children, Diane Crosby, Randy Crosby, Randy Crosby, Beverly Aguirre, Toni Crosby, Vicki Reedus and John Aguirre; his grandchildren, Crystal Hudgins (Terry), Lisa Salgado (Patrick), Joseph Aguirre (Holli), Matthew Aguirre, Mike Aguirre, Brianna Hughes (Matt), Tara Crosby (Eric), Zachary Lopez, Elyse Lopez and Jamie Maese; and eleven great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their families. He dearly loved all his family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5-7:30pm at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. Graveside Service will be on Friday at 3pm at the Shafter Memorial Park followed by a 4pm Memorial Service at Valley Bible Church, Shafter, CA.
