Inez Hill was born May 3, 1930 near Marmaduke, Arkansas to Gladys (Graves) and Lewis Wright. The family moved to California in 1932, then to Shafter in 1945 where Inez graduated from Shafter High School with the Class of 1948. Inez was crowned the Campus Queen, by the Student Body President, Wayne Hill and they were married August 25, 1948. Wayne and Inez lived in McFarland where operated the family farm until 1969. Wayne's farming career took them to Porterville until 1987 when they retired in Shafter. They were members of the First Southern Baptist Church of Shafter. Wayne and Inez celebrated 63 years of marriage before he passed away May 7, 2012. Inez is survived by her sons, Terry Hill and Gary Hill, both of Shafter; 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and brother, Chuck Wright and wife Janice. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Reihert and Jennie Wright. Graveside services will be held Monday, July 21, at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park for Daythel Inez Hill, age 84 of Shafter who passed July 13, 2014 in Bakersfield. Pastor Jim Neal of the First Southern Baptist Church will officiate the service and interment will follow. Arrangements are under the direction of Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
