Obituary

David Tatum was born November 10, 1942 in Wright City, Oklahoma one of 5 sons born to Rosie (Simpson) and John Tatum. When David was still a toddler the family moved to Wasco and he attended Wasco elementary schools and Wasco Union High School with the Class of 1960. He entered the Army in1962 and served until 1974, completing one tour in the Dominican Republic and two tours in Vietnam. David earned several medals including the Purple Heart. After David retired from the Army, he worked for a short time at the Kern County Water District at the Aqua Duct and then in construction until his second retirement. David enjoyed restoring old cars and watching the drag races at Famoso. He was a member of the Wasco VFW. David is survived by his daughters, Belinda, Sandy and Missy; brothers, Charles and wife Thelma, Jack and wife Regina, Jessie and Jimmy; 9 grandchildren; his aunts, Ruby Tatum, Maddie , and Odessie; uncles, Orville and Carville and Thomas; and his double cousins, Marion, Judy, Sharon and Danny and many other cousins, family and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 1pm at Peters Funeral Home for David Tatum age 69, of Wasco, who passed away on March 16, 2012 in Fresno. Inurnment will be Friday, March 29 at 1:15pm at Bakersfield National Cemetery. Visitation was held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from 4-8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
