David Harold Strange was born April 18, 1948 in Lake Village, AR., to parents Audrey (Pack) and Ernest Strange. He graduated from Bakersfield High in 1965, and then completed his Associate's Degree at Bakersfield College in 1967. David then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1970. He owned and operated Ed's Auto Parts and U-Haul for 35 years, then in 2006 moved on to his current business, T-C pilot car service. David was an all-around good guy; a polite man who always tried to treat others well. He was a generous man, always willing to help others when he was able. David was a quick learner and picked up new skills quickly, while also able to see the value in imparting his knowledge to the younger generations. His family was paramount in his life, and he was very protective of those closest to him. He will be greatly missed. David is preceeded in death by his father, Ernest Strange; and a brother, Eddie Strange. He is survived by his mother, Audrey Strange; brothers, James and wife Karen, Marvin and wife Sylvia, and Larry and wife Shorty; his sisters, Marilyn Simpson, and Naomi Waters; numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Bakersfield National Cemetery, on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 beginning 10:00am. Pastor Dean Long of Shafter Free Will Baptist will officiate the service. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 2:00-8:00pm, at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter.
