David was born in Bakersfield, CA to Facundo & Josefa Garcia on 8/24/1965. The family moved to Mission, TX. in 1972 where he attended Alton Elementary School, Mission Jr. High and Mission High School. At Mission High School he belonged to the FFA Club where he raised a calf named "Sherry "and showed her at the Mercedes Livestock Show. The best years of his life were spent in Texas where he felt most at home. He was a cowboy, or as they say in Texas, a "Kicker". He loved his Ford 4X4 truck, his Stetson hat, his music and his friends. David moved back to Bakersfield in 1986 where he worked in the oilfields for about 5 years, then he worked as a mechanic for 10 years. Once he could no longer work full-time he was still a mechanic to many family and friends. Some of you may remember your cars ran a few more miles because of David. David is survived by his parents, Facundo & Josefa Garcia, his sister Diana and her husband Arturo Franco, his brother Mark and his wife Gena Garcia, his sister Lori and her husband Fernando Flores, his niece's Briana Garcia and Gabryella Flores, his nephew's Andrew Garcia and Santino Flores and his great nephew Caleb Johnson and many other relatives and friends. I once knew a man that would read the obituaries every day to see if he had to go to work the next day…well David, tomorrow there will be no doctor appointments or no medication to worry about. As you would say, "Take it easy", visit with Uncle David and Uncle Sabas and tell a few stories. Services will be held on Thursday 6/2/2011 at Harmony Southern Baptist Church, 8300 Wharton Ave Lamont, CA. 93241; visitation from 9 am to 11:30am, funeral service at noon and interment immediately following at Arvin Cemetery.
