David Joe Bivins was born June 18, 2008 in Bakersfield, California to Joe and Virginia (Epperson) Bivins. He grew up in Arvin and attended Arvin High School with the Class of 1973. David worked in construction for 23 years, color coating houses, as a plasterer and hoed carrier, many of those years with Yarbrough Construction. In his free time David loved to fish going to Lake Isabella and the Kern River. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and taking them fishing. He read his Bible everyday, was a loving father, son and doting grandfather; he was a good man who cared for everybody. David is survived by his parents, Joe and Virginia of Arvin; sons, David Joseph and Shawn, both of Bakersfield; daughter, Lisa M. Bivins of California City; brother, Danny; sisters, Sandra Joan Rodriguez and Janice Sue Walterson, all of Bakersfield; and 9 grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Arvin Funeral Home on Sunday, March 29, from 2pm to 8pm for David Joe Bivins, age 54, of Arvin who passed away March 25, 2009 in Culver City. Interment will be private.
