In Loving Memory of David Acosta

June 3, 1983 – June 14, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, brother, son, father, grandfather, and friend, David Acosta.

David lived life with a big heart and an adventurous spirit. He was outgoing, full of life, and never met a stranger. His warm smile, quick wit, and contagious sense of humor could brighten any room. He loved making people laugh, joking with family and friends, and bringing joy to those around him. His laughter and playful spirit will be remembered by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

David was a devoted and loving father to Andrea Acosta, David Acosta II, and Gabriel Guijarro. His children were the greatest blessing in his life. He loved taking them on adventures and creating memories they would cherish forever. Whether they were spending time at the beach, camping under the stars, exploring the mountains, traveling to Washington, Texas, Nevada, or visiting family in Arizona, David treasured every moment they shared. To David, the destination was never as important as the time spent with the people he loved most.

David was also a proud grandfather. His precious granddaughter, Scarlette Acosta, who was just three months old, brought him immeasurable joy. Although their time together was far too short, the love he had for her was already deep and unconditional. She held a special place in his heart, and his love for her will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

One of David’s greatest qualities was his selfless heart. If someone needed help, David was there—no matter the time of day or night, no matter the situation. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer support, or simply show up when someone needed him most. His generosity, compassion, and willingness to put others before himself earned him the love and respect of everyone who knew him.

One of David’s favorite ways to bring everyone together was through a backyard barbecue. He loved grilling for family, gathering everyone around, sharing stories, laughing, and making memories. Family meant everything to him. He enjoyed being surrounded by his relatives, and they loved being around him just as much. His kind heart, genuine love for his family, and ability to make everyone feel welcome made him the heart of so many gatherings.

David dedicated 22 years of service to the City of Bakersfield, where he was known as a hardworking, dependable, and respected employee. He took pride in his work and built lasting friendships throughout his years of service.

David accepted Christ at Valley Bible Fellowship 1 1/2 years ago, and his Christian faith became an important part of his life. His family finds comfort in the hope and peace that his faith brought him and in the promise of eternal life.

David was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Lupe Dooley.

He is survived by his wife, Lupe Acosta; his loving father, Isabel Acosta; his children, Andrea Acosta (Christian Rodriguez), David Acosta II (Azariah Castilleja), and Gabriel Guijarro; his cherished granddaughter, Scarlette Acosta; his brothers, Gilbert Amador (Kayln Amador) and Michael Acosta (Amanda Acosta); his sister, Lorrie Acosta; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish the memories they shared with him.

Although our hearts are broken by this tremendous loss, we find comfort in the beautiful memories David gave us, the love he shared so freely, and the faith that gave him hope. His legacy of love, laughter, generosity, and devotion to his family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

David will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
