Darrell Henry Voth, 77, of Grover Beach, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 18, 2026 in Seattle, Washington. A beloved husband, father, community leader, and friend, Darrell lived a life defined by adventure, service, and deep devotion to his family, friends, and community. He was born on June 22, 1948 to Evelyn and Loren Voth, at Miss Freise's Maternity Home in Bakersfield, California. He was raised in Wasco, where he worked on his family’s farm and learned to drive a tractor at a young age. While attending Wasco Union High School, he served as the student body president, participated in clubs including the Future Farmers of America, and played football, golf, and basketball. He went on to attend California State University at Fresno, where he served as the president of the Sigma Chi fraternity and graduated in 1971. He earned his law degree in 1975 from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law. Darrell worked as an attorney for more than 35 years–primarily in Wasco–and served his clients and community with great integrity and pride. He was elected many times to the board of the Wasco Union School District and served as the board president. He also served as the President of the Rotary Club of Wasco and on the board of the Wasco Community Scholarship Association. A man of Christian faith, he sang in the choirs at the First Baptist Church and First Congregational Church. Darrell beamed with joy whenever he spoke of meeting Linda. They married in 1974 and shared a lifetime of adventure capped by a 50th wedding anniversary road trip across Europe with two weeks of hiking in Switzerland. Throughout their lives, Darrell and Linda traveled, hiked, camped, skied, ran, and bicycled together–passing along their love of the outdoors to their children. They ran marathons, rode their bikes across California, Oregon, and Montana, and climbed several of the 14,000-foot peaks of California. In retirement, Darrell remained active with the San Luis Obispo Bicycle Club and SLO Skiers, forming lasting friendships and always sporting a very stylish cycling kit or ski jacket. He will be remembered for his warm, fun-loving nature and animated storytelling.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Voth; his daughter and her partner, Marin Voth and Jeroen Dierkes; and his son, Russell Voth. He was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Caywood, and is survived by his sister Ann Paslay. A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held on March 13 at 11:00 AM at Ventana Grill in Pismo Beach. We invite all who knew and loved Darrell to join us in honoring his memory and, as he would have wanted, to share stories, laughter, and a great time together. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wasco Community Scholarship Association.
