Danny Price, a resident of Yucca Valley since 2003, died Nov. 30, 2008. He was 60 years old. Born in Newport, Ark., Mr. Price lived in the Lakewood/Long Beach area until he and his wife retired and moved to Yucca Valley. He was the manager of maintenance for United States Postal Service's Long Beach Processing and Distribution Center at the time of his retirement in 2003. Mr. Price served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. It was there that he was exposed to Agent Orange, which resulted in his being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2005. He was an active member of Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel, serving in the Helping Hands Ministry and the church choir and as a leader of one of the couples' ministry groups. He dearly loved his church family.. He loved going camping and riding his quad with friends Tom and Judy Alexander of Payson, Ariz. He was grateful to friends Cliff and Betty Anderson of Yucca Valley, who assisted with his care during his last few weeks. He is survived by wife Judy of Yucca Valley, mother-in-law June Stone of Yucca Valley, daughter Stephanie Merlo, sister and brother-in-law Judy and Alan Lawerence of Batesville, Ark., brother-in-law Gary Stone and his wife, Demetria, of Lakewood, as well as nieces, nephews and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Beauford and Dollie Price. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Dec. 21 at Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel in Yucca Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel or the Family Hospice Services of Rancho Mirage.
