Wiedmann
August 10, 1927 – July 21, 2012
Ellis "Dale" Wiedmann, was born August 10, 1927, in Shafter to Oscar and Hazel Wiedmann (early pioneers of Shafter). He was the youngest of 5 children. Dale Graduated from Shafter High in 1945, where he excelled at Track and Basketball. He married his high school sweetheart Barbara in 1948 and welcomed their only son, Dennis, in 1959. He later welcomed 2 grandchildren, Jason and Andrea just before loosing Barbara to Cancer in 1985. Dale remarried 2 years later in 1987 to an even earlier childhood girl friend, Helen Mouser. This past June, they celebrated 25 years of marriage. Dale did mechanic work, insurance sales and farm management until settling on his own farming future in the 60s on the family's 80 acres just south east of Shafter. He continued farming until the selling of the family farm, and moved to Springville in 1998. There he enjoyed gardening and impressing neighbors with his ability to grow almost anything in the arid mountains above Lake Success. Dale passed away on the morning of July 21, 2012. Dale lost his battle with Alzheimer's and miscellaneous physical disabilities on that Saturday morning. He is survived by his wife, Helen Wiedmann of Porterville; son, Dennis Wiedmann and his wife Tammy of Shafter along with their 2 children, son, Jason Wiedmann of Shafter and daughter, Andrea Gonzalez and her husband Roy of Bakersfield; 2 step-children, James and Marie (Helen's son and daughter); along with numerous step-grandchildren; his brother, Mert Wiedmann and his wife Nola of Shafter; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday, July 27, at 10am at Shafter Memorial Park followed by a memorial service at 11am at the Congregation Church of Shafter(430 E. Tulare, Shafter). A visitation will be held Friday morning at 9am at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter.
