Obituary

Daisy was born March 4, 1944 to Manuel and Antonia (Negron) Vargas in Ponce, Puerto Rico. The family came to the United States, first to New York and then to California in 1956 looking for a better life. Daisy worked as a laborer in agriculture for DiGiorgio Farms and Guimarra Farms. She was active with the United Farm Workers Union, and picketed in 1972. Daisy loved to cook and the family had many favorites including pasteles and rice with green pigeon peas. Daisy was always happy and enjoyed life; she especially loved her dog "Chachito". Daisy loved being at home surrounded by her family. Daisy is survived by her children, Daniel Borreli and Aracelia Delgado and husband Benjamin Miranda, all of Arvin; brothers, Harry Vargas, Sr., Angel Vargas, Carlos Vargas, Walter Ramos, Alfredo Ramos, Abigail Ramos; sister, Migdalia Ramos; 10 grandchildren , 9 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members. Daisy was preceded in death by her husbands, Cruz Delgado and Generosa Borreli; parents, sister, Gladys Roman and daughter, Isabel Borreli (1994). A visitation will be held Monday, May 25 from 5pm to 9pm with an evening service at 6pm at New Life Church of God, 8510 Weedpatch Hwy, Lamont for Daisy Vargas Delgado, age 65, of Arvin who passed away May 20, 2009 in Arvin. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 26 at 10am followed by interment at South Kern Cemetery, Arvin. Pastor Graham Bell will officiate.
