Obituary

Cyril Andre, of Bakersfield, CA, passed away on July 6, 2010, at his home after a brief illness. He was born in Bakersfield on August 21, 1918, son of French immigrants. He was a long time banker – 51 years – and was also a co-founder of Andre's Drive-In. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Cyril was an active contributor to community organizations: Kiwanis, Boys' Club, Link to Life. He was a generous supporter of the Alpha Canine Sanctuary, Smile Train, and Catholic charities. He loved spending time with his family and his dog, and traveling. He was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed golf games with his son, Dennis. He'll be remembered most for his faith in God, generosity, strong work ethic, vegetable garden, and his love for his dog, Little Guy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and his daughter Carol Barraza. He is survived by his 3 children: Dennis Andre and wife Linda, Joan Andre and husband John, and Michelle Andre and husband Gary. He is also survived by his brother John Andre, and 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Link to Life or Alpha Canine Sanctuary. Rosary will be held on Monday, July 12, at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help and interment immediately following at Green Lawn Cemetery.
